In an announcement published on the ACMA website, the authority stated:

The ACMA is reminding consumers that even if a service looks legitimate, its unlikely to have important customer protections. This means Australians who use illegal gambling services risk losing their money.”

The blocks are the latest move by the ACMA to thwart the efforts of illegal international gambling websites that continue to target the Australian market. In August, the authority announced that it would request that internet services providers block affiliate websites that promote online gambling.

Since the ACMA began its campaign against unlicensed gambling websites in 2019, the authority has blocked 295 websites and seen 140 illegal services pull out of the Australian online gambling market.
