All of the casinos use RTG products and software and have previously been listed as illegal by the ACMA and placed on a block list. Since the ACMA first started blocking sites, over 170 gambling websites have pulled their services from the Australian market.
However, this is the first time that the ACMA has taken direct action against a company for providing software to an unlicensed online casino. Proxous is a Hong Kong-based company established in 2017.
The news comes just a few weeks after the ACMA announced that it will launch BetStop, a national register where people can opt to self-exclude from all online gambling websites and apps.
