The US Department of Interior (DoI) has moved quickly to approve a new tribal-state gaming compact that will allow Arizona’s tribal casinos to offer legal sports betting services. The federal approval means that sports betting is now legal in the state and could be live just in time for the NFL season.
Arizona Sports Betting on Track for September Launch Following Federal Approval of Gaming Compacts. However, the DoI hadn’t been expected to deal look at the compact much less approve it quite so soon.Following the announcemnt, state Rep. Jeff Weninger, who sponsored the bill said :
“This means that our aspirational goal of having sports betting live by the start of the NFL season is even more realistic now.”
He added:
