The latest figure marks a 92.7% increase on August’s handle of $211.9 million and the highest amount wagered in any single month of 2021.
The start of the NFL season saw Colorado gamblers place over $125.7 million in wagers on pro football pushing baseball down into second place for the first time in three months. Interestingly, baseball wagers dropped very slightly from the previous month with locals betting $68.7 million on the sport throughout the month.

Operators reported gross gaming revenue (GGR) of $22.6 million for the month of September up 48.6% on the previous month. However, the higher win percentage of 7.19% resulted in net sports betting receipts of just $1.8 million for the month, a significant drop on the $7 million reported in the previous month. This meant that states taxes for September amounted to $483,047.77 down 33.5% on the previous month.
