Colorado Sportsbooks End 2021 With Yet Another Wildly Successful Month revealing that the state’s licensed sportsbooks accepted over $461.4 million in wagers throughout the month of December.

December saw betting activity drop by 2.94% from November’s handle of $475.4 million and was $30 million short of the state’s all-time record handle of $491.4 million set in October 2021. However, the month was still one of the state’s most successful since sports betting launched and marked the fourth month in a row that sportsbooks accepted over $400 million in wagers.

NCAA basketball and football betting activity continues their decline with both sports attracting $27.5 million and $24.5 million respectively. Ice hockey was the next most popular sport attracting over $12.5 million on wagers during December.

Retail sports betting operators accepted $6.5 million in wagers for the month, up slightly from the $6.4 million reported in November. Mobile sports wagers accounted for 98.5% of all betting activity as online apps accepted over $454.9 million in wagers throughout the month.

Winning for players in the month of December totaled $436.7 million with $430.3 million of this paid through mobile sports betting apps. Retail winnings amounted to $6.35 million.

Gross gaming revenue (GGR) fell sharply to $24.7 million from the previous month’s all-time record of $36.8 million. As a result, state taxes for December amounted to $770,369.98 from a win percentage of 5.36%.
