Michigan Gaming Control Board Executive Director Henry Williams announced Monday that Governor Gretchen Whitmer has appointed Jim Ananich to serve as the new Chair of the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB).

Jim Ananich Named Chair of Michigan Gaming Control BoardThe Flint native previously served as Michigan Senate Minority Leader, State Representative, and President of the Flint City Council. He also began his career as a high school social studies teacher.
Board Is Comprised Of Five Michigan Residents
In addition, Ananich holds a bachelor’s degree in political economy from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from the University of Michigan. Plus, he serves on the Advisory Board of the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.

In accordance with the Michigan Gaming Control & Revenue Act, a maximum of three Board members are allowed to represent the same political party. A quorum of at least three members is required to conduct official Board business.
Ananich will serve as Board Chair alongside current Board members Andrew T. Palms, Joni M. Thrower Davis, Mark Evenson, and Deidre A. Lambert-Bounds.
