This is the second time that the KSA has fined Gammix for illegally offering online gambling products and services in the Netherlands. In March of 2023, the regulator collected €4.4 million in fines and penalties following the company’s failure to heed warnings to cease operations in the local market.
René Jansen, chairperson of the KSA said:
‘Dutch players must be protected: that is why we are cracking down on illegal offers. We see that illegal providers often pay little attention to the player and do not adhere to a duty of care. We also see this with this provider: there was no clear age verification. That is extremely harmful. We will therefore continue to take sanctions, even if providers repeatedly make mistakes.’
This is the largest fine the KSA has imposed since its inception. The previous record was the €12,640,000 fine issued to N1 Interactive Limited in 2022 when the regulator fined a total of 5 companies €26 million.
Global gambling industry fines for 2024 now total more than €33.7 million ($36.5 million) in fines.
