The latest figures represent a drop of 2.5% from the amount wagered in the February when the state’s first full month of online sports betting saw Louisiana gamblers place over $211 million in bets.
Louisiana Online Sports Betting Activity Dips in March But Revenue Jumps by 70%As a result state taxes directly from mobile sports betting amounted to $3.18 million up from the $2.2 million paid in the previous month.
Meanwhile retail sportsbooks reported a 168% increase in revenue with the month’s total coming to $1.7 million. This was despite wagers made at physical sportsbooks dropping by 1.5% to $27 million.

Sports betting in Louisiana was legalized in 2021 with retail sportsbooks launching in October. Mobile Sports betting launched in the state towards the end of January 2022.
