Quiet Start to 2022 Sees Maryland Casino Revenue Drop in January from the Maryland State Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC) has revealed that the state’s six licensed casinos generated $153.8 million in revenue for the month of January.

This marks a drop of 11.04% in revenue from the previous month’s reported figure of $172.9 million. Gambling revenue for January increased by 19.4% year-on-year, however, the report does note that in early 2021, casinos across the state were operating at reduced capacity.

Sports betting revenue figures for December

Sports betting launched in Maryland on Thursday December 9th. 5 retail sportsbooks launched during the month while a mobile sports betting launch date has yet to be finalized.

This figure included promotional wagers given to players by sportsbooks. Combined player winnings for the month amounted to $13.3 million resulting in a 19.1% hold for operators. Taxable revenue for the month totaled $3.1 million allowing the state to collect $469,297 in sports wagering taxes.
