SWARC still waiting in industry analysis report
The SWARC provides final approval for all Maryland sports betting licenses and in a meeting this week, it outlined what needs to happen in the state before mobile sports betting can be approved. It now looks increasingly unlikely that these conditions can be met before the end of the year.
Governor Larry Hogan recently spoke of his frustration at the delay and called on the SWARC to grant final approval before the NFL season opener in September.

This extended timeline is due to the fact that the SWARC is still waiting on a required sports wagering industry analysis. This will need to be reviewed and then sent to a legislative committee for approval of regulations.
When those regulations are approved, the SWARC will open a 45-day window for applications. There will then be an further 45 days added to review all applicants. If the number of applicants is exceptionally high, which is likely, this timeframe could be extended even further.
