The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued cease-and-desist orders to 11 offshore casinos found to be offering unlicensed gambling to residents. The casinos named in the enforcement action include the following:

“These sites are operating illegally and without proper oversight, putting Michigan players at risk,” said Henry Williams, Executive Director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
“We’re committed to shutting down unlicensed gambling operations and protecting the public from deceptive practices, unfair play, and financial harm.”
Offshore Operators Have 14 Days To Comply
The MGCB has formally notified all 11 operators to immediately stop offering gambling services to Michigan residents. Offshore operators have been given 14 days to comply.
If the platforms refuse to cooperate, the MGCB said the Board would eventually collaborate with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office to pursue legal action.

This news comes a few weeks after the MGCB opened a series of investigations into unlicensed sports prediction markets operating within the Wolverine State.
Sports prediction markets are “unlicensed wagering platforms” that impact consumer protection and “may jeopardize the integrity of Michigan’s legal sports betting system,” according to the MGCB.

In February, the MGCB sent cease-and-desist letters to the following operators:

- CoolCat Casino
- Diamond Sportsbook International, d/b/a BetDSI.eu (BetDSI)

Additionally, the MGCB sent cease-and-desist letters to offshore operators Lucky Tiger Casino and Rich Palms Casino for conducting illegal gambling activities in the state.
Licensed online gambling operators are the only platforms that can legally offer online casinos and mobile sports betting in Michigan. The first regulated casino sites in the state launched in January 2021.
