The Mississippi Gaming Commission’s monthly report for February shows a sports betting handle of $47,807,573.85 for the month.
February’s figure marks a 29.4% drop on January’s record-breaking sports betting handle of $67,707,627.70.
The monthly report shows that the majority of sports betting revenue was generated in casinos in Biloxi, Bay St. Louis, and Gulf Port.
Sportsbooks in Mississippi coastal regions took in $34,665,978.33 in wagers throughout February while casinos in central regions posted a combined handle of $7,778,475.75. Northern casinos accounted for just $5,363,119.77 of the state’s overall handle.
Basketball was the most popular sport attracting 60% of all sports wagers in the state for a total of $28,689,425.72. Football was distant second with only $7,914,477.64 in bets during February.
