New Jersey Gamblers Set All-time Sports Betting Record with over $1 Billion in Bets Made in September revealing that the state has become the first to accept over $1 billion in sports wagers in a single month.

September saw New Jersey’s licensed sports betting operators accept $1.01 billion in bets throughout the month, the most that has ever been reported by any state with legal sports betting. The latest figures mark a 52% increase on August’s handle of $664.6 million. The daily average of $33.7 million in bets made is also a new record.

Retail sportsbooks reported accepting $92.6 million in wagers while the state’s 20 mobile sports betting apps took in $918.4 million accounting for 92% of total bets made throughout the month. Sports wagering revenue for the month was $82.4 million, an 82.9% increase on the same period in 2020.
