Earlier in September, Lotteritilsynet warned Kindred that it would face fines of NOK1.198m (€113,930) for every day Trannel continued to operate in Norway.
This was due to come into effect three weeks after it was announced. However, when Kindred stated that Trannel would cease operations in Norway as a gesture of goodwill — the company maintained that it was legally allowed to operate. The company did not cease operations but instead took some measures that Kindred believes are sufficient. These include removing Norwegian language options and removing any Norwegian flags or emblems and changing to a non-Norwegian name.
The fines are due to restart as the regulator maintains that Kindred is still allowing Norwegian players to access its platform.
