According to the regulator’s announcement, an audit of the company revealed that Kanon did not have the appropriate procedures in place to protect its customers against the harms of excessive gambling. The audit requested an action plan from the company during the audit. The documents supplied did not clearly lay out how the company handled its duty of care to customers.

The audit also required customer data on those who had lost the most during a set period and gamblers from a specific demographic, young players aged 18-24. This was to check if any actions such as deposit limits were put in place for those with significant losses.
