According to data released by the Swedish gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen, licensed gambling companies reported a turnover of SEK 27.4 billion (€2.4 billion) in 2022.
Gambling turnover grew by 5.1% year-on-year
However, the regulator notes that during the previous year, many gambling businesses were heavily affected by the global pandemic. This included land-based businesses facing temporary closures while the government also introduced responsible gambling limitations during lockdowns that impacted online revenue figures.
Swedish Gambling Turnover for 2022 Tops SEK 27.4 BillionBy the end of Q4 2022, around 85,000 people had been prohibited from gambling through the self-exclusion program Spelpaus.se, marking a 5% increase from the previous quarter.
