Amazon-owned streaming platform Twitch has announced that it’s expanding its ban on livestreams of gambling content to include online casinos Blaze and Gamdom.

Twitch Adds Blaze and Gamdom to List of Banned Gambling Websites as part of its new gambling policy. The move followed calls for a ban after a controversy that involved a streamer accused of scamming users alongside other content creators. The alleged scammer—popular streamer ‘Sliker’—was accused of cheating his followers and fellow content creators out of $200,000 in order to fund his gambling addiction.

As a result, Twitch implemented a new gambling policy that stated that the company would ban “streaming of gambling sites that include slots, roulette, or dice games.”  However, this was not a blanket ban on all gambling-related content on the site with the company going so far as to name four specific domains that would banned.

Twitch has stated that gambling viewership has dropped by about 75% after it implemented the new gambling policy in October of last year. However, the company noted it has also “observed some new trends” and will now update its policy to better protect users.

CS:GO skin gambling sponsorships banned

Twitch has quietly banned the sponsorship of skins gambling, such as for CS:GO skins. While the practice was technically a breach of its content guidelines, the platform has never directly addressed the promotion and sponsorship of CS:GO gambling websites.

Twitch Adds Blaze and Gamdom to List of Banned Gambling Websites stating:

“..promotion or sponsorship of skins gambling is prohibited under our policy.”

In a statement to Dexerto, Twitch said:

“There’s been renewed interest in CSGO gambling broadly, so we’ve added clarifying language to our FAQ to make clear that promotion/sponsorship is not allowed on our service.”
