The UK Gambling Commission has suspended the license of Gibraltar-based online gaming operator Nektan, whose UK-facing brands include Jackpot Mobile Casino and Cloud Casino, due to a breach of licensing conditions relating to section 118(2) of the Gambling Act 2005.

The Commission is currently carrying out a section 116 review into the operator and as part of that investigation has come to the conclusion that it must immediately suspend the operator’s license.

In a press release on the Gambling Commission website the regulator stated:

The regulator also added:

We have made it clear to the operator that it must communicate effectively with its customers and that the suspension does not prevent it paying out winnings.

In 2020, Nektan went into administration before the UK b2C branch of the business was sold to Grace Media, part of the Active Win Group. The B2B arm of the business was sold to Real Time Strategic Marketing Limited who rebranded Nektan as Makor Technology.

It’s unclear whether the company’s administration and subsequent sale are related to the suspension in any way.
