Governor Mark Gordon has signed House Bill 0133 that officially legalizes online sports betting in the state of Wyoming.
Wyoming Governor Signs Bill to Legalize Online Sports Betting by the senate last week after several rejections of earlier versions.The bill sets out the parameters for a regulated sports betting industry that will allow sportsbooks to offer online products and services beginning on September 1st of this year.
Wyoming Governor Signs Bill to Legalize Online Sports BettingOperators will need to pay an initial fee of $100,000 for a five-year license and a $50,000 renewal fee at the end of each license term.
All sports betting revenues will be taxed at a standard rate of 10% and industry experts expect the market to be worth somewhere in the region of $449 million.
The state is expected to issue licenses to around five sportsbook operators. However, to qualify for a license, an operator must be licensed to operate in at least three other states.
