The latest revenue report from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission has revealed that the state’s licensed sports betting operators accepted $280.9 million in wagers during the month of October. This marks a 33.5% increase in sports betting activity since September as the return of the NFL sees sportsbooks set another monthly record for the second month in a row.

Online net receipts totaled $3.5 million while retail net receipts came to just over $3 million. This resulted in combined net receipts of $6.5 million yielding the state taxes of $514,641.92. Despite a significant increase in sports betting activity for the month, this represented an increase of just 0.33% in taxes from the previous month.
